TREVI FOR THE SALIPAZARI CRUISE PORT PROJECT IN ISTANBUL

25 ene. 2017

The Istanbul Salıpazarı Port Area has up to 1,200 meters of coastline and covers an area of approximately 100,000 square meters.

The project involves the construction of a modern terminal for cruise ships, the construction of promenade by the coastline which has been closed to public for nearly 200 years, the reconfiguration of Tophane square, the restoration of historical buildings and redevelopment of the Salıpazarı section of the port area.

The new terminal will play a pivotal role in the project since it is planned to be a world-first in underground boarding bridge systems for ships. Passengers will exit at boarding bridges, arriving at terminal area through the tunnel which will be built along the pier. By moving all terminal operations and the customs areas underground, the coastline will be given back to the city.

Trevi has actively contributed to the design by making available its longstanding experience and knowhow. The complexity of the project, which includes the construction of underground structures both in open areas and underneath the existing historical buildings, has required the use of a wide range of technologies for the e xecution of retaining structures, deep foundations and soil improvement in a high seismicity context.

The technical solutions adopted have required the use of equipment prepared to get the highest performance, like the new hydromill Soilmec SC-135 equipped with SH- 40 cutting module and the new rig Soilmec SR-95 Turbojet® version.
