Bane NOR and the ”New double track Drammen-Kobbervikdalen” development project

Bane NOR, the Norwegian state-owned company responsible for the national railway infrastructure, is carrying out the ”New double track Drammen-Kobbervikdalen” development project that is part of the InterCity initiative and one of Norway’s largest railway projects.

Construction works began in the autumn of 2019 and are scheduled to end in the autumn of 2025. Once completed, the project, will provide higher speed and more availability of trains on the Vestfoldbanen line, as well as more efficient train traffic through Drammen. The project in Drammen includes the construction of a double track on the Vestfold line between Drammen station and Skoger, through a new tunnel in Strømsåsen.
