Work in progress in Mosul Dam

Work continues on the Mosul dam. In recent weeks, an urgent operation was performed to repair the safety floodgate in one of the two bottom outlet tunnel of the dam. For some time, the floodgate had been stuck due to the mechanical failure of a component.

The block clogged the tunnel and precluded the drainingof the lake. A joint effort of the technicians of the Ministry of Water Resources, the US Corp of Engineers and Trevi with its subcontractors resulted in the full functionality at the tunnel reopening on 10th, October 2016.
